The Leonardi Family

I know so little about this family. They were originally from French speaking Luxembourg. Family folklore has it that after the German invasion, the family fled to Paris on foot. There they hopped a ship to America and settled in Kansas. My great-grandfather changed his name to Conway during the Civil War. I don't know why. Perhaps he thought Conway sounded more American. He probably didn't realize at the time that it was Irish and they were considered little more than white-trash.
